Παραδοσιακά στο Mugello ο Valentino Rossi φοράει ένα κράνος βαμμένο ειδικά για τον αγώνα αυτό. Το φετινό θέμα είναι ένας τεράστιος βολβός ματιού, ίσως ένα μήνυμα ότι βλέπει την κατάσταση..

Every year Valentino Rossi wears a specially designed helmet for his home race. This year a giant eyeball is the theme. Maybe it is a message that he does see what is going on..

Οι φωτογραφίες της νέας μοτοσυκλέτας παρουσιάστηκαν σήμερα στην σε αυτή αφιερωμένη ιστοσελίδα, ενώ τα τεχνικά της χαρακτηριστικά (στο περίπου) ανακοινώθηκαν προχθές: 100ίπποι και 100 Nm ροπής για 175(στεγνά) κιλά. Μυρίζομαι αστικές και περιαστικές συγκινήσεις εδώ!
Αισθητικά η ουρά μου αρέσει αλλά το μπροστινό μέρος θέλει συνήθεια. Είναι "κάπως" αυτό το περίεργα πλατύ ρεζερβουάρ και το φτυάρι-μπροστινό φτερό θα ήταν πιο χρήσιμο σε ένα χωματερό μηχανάκι. Από τη λιτή ουρά λοίπουν(;) τα μαρσπιέ του συνεπιβάτη και αυτό το μπροστινό φτερό μια χαρά κάνει για βάση πινακίδας.




You can find the photos of the new bike in the Nuda dedicated website , and the technical data (sort of), too: 100hp and 100Nm of torque for 175(dry) kg. I am guessing lots of urban and suburban fun here!
Design-wise tha tail section is minimal and looks great, but the front part is the kind that you have to wait as it grows on you. I mean look at that strangely wide tank and the shovel doubling as a front fender. It would be more useful for an off-road model. The tail may look great but it lacks pillion footpegs (no big deal here) and that front fender would make a great number plate hanger.

Έχουμε ξαναδεί φωτογραφίες της νέας μοτοσυκλέτας της Ducati, που πρόκειται να παρουσιαστεί τον προσεχή Νοέμβριο, αλλά αυτή τη φορά η φωτογραφία του περιοδικού Motociclismo δεν αφήνει κανένα περιθώριο φαντασίας. Και αν οι αποκαλύψεις συνεχιστούν το μόνο μυστήριο που θα παραμείνει μέχρι την παρουσίαση θα είναι το όνομα της. Ή μήπως όχι; Θυμίζω ότι η εργοστασιακή ομάδα SBK αποσύρθηκε από το πρωτάθλημα του 2011 για να αφοσιωθεί το εργοστάσιο στην εξέλιξη της.

We have seen pictures of the new Ducati Superbike before. It is to be officially unveiled in November but the picture leaked via the Motociclismo's website is very clear, not leaving much to imagine. So is the name of the new bike the only remaining mystery? I guess not. Remember that the works team is not participating in the 2011 championship so that Ducati can use all the available resources developing the bike. So what's new?

Έμαθα την ανάβαση του Pikes Peak από ένα φιλμάκι του 1990 (Climb Dance) στο οποίο πρωταγωνιστεί ο Ari Vatanen και το Peugeot 405 του, ενάντια στον απύθμενο γκρεμό και τη δύσπνοια οδηγού και κινητήρα που προκαλεί το υψόμετρο. Βλέπεις η ανάβαση ξεκινάει λίγο πάνω από τα 2800 μέτρα και συνεχίζει να ανεβαίνει για περίπου άλλα 1500 μέτρα, καλύπτοντας απόσταση 20 χιλιομέτρων, μοιρασμένων σε 156 στροφές. Στον τερματισμό ο κινητήρας έχει 40% λιγότερη ιπποδύναμη από ότι στην εκκίνηση!
Η αίγλη του αγώνα συντηρήθηκε στη συνέχεια με αμέτρητες «διπλές» κόντρες με τη βοήθεια του Gran Turismo 2, αλλά παρά την στο μεταξύ διάδοση του διαδικτύου, μόλις το 2009 (visordown τεύχος Οκτωβρίου 2009) έμαθα ότι στο βουνό αγωνίζονταν και μοτοσυκλέτες! Όπως και το γεγονός ότι μεγάλο μέρος της διαδρομής έχει πλέον ασφαλτοστρωθεί.
Για 2η συνεχή χρονιά μια Ducati Multistrada κερδίζει τον (δίτροχο) αγώνα..



I learned about the Pikes Peak Hillclimb watching an award winning short film of 1990, called “Climb Dance”. In the film Ari Vatanen and his Peugeot 405 are fighting against time, a bottomless cliff and the lack of oxygen due to the high altitude. You see the race starts at about 2800m (9300ft) and continues to climb for about another 1500m (4500ft). In the meantime it covers about 20km (12miles) spread over 156 bends. In the finishing line the engines produce 40% less horsepower than the start!
Racing the course in the split-screen mode of Gran Turismo 2 kept feeding the admiration for the hillclimb, but despite the growth of the internet, it wasn’t until 2009 that I learned that motorcycles were racing in the mountain, too! (visordown magazine, Oct.2009). It was then I read that tarmac was covering a big part of the course.
So, for a second consecutive time a Ducati Multistrada wins the (motorcycle) race..

Έχουμε ολόκληρο καλοκαίρι μπροστά μας πριν την εμφάνιση των νέων μοντέλων για το 2012, αλλά φαίνεται πως η Husqvarna ετοιμάζεται να παρουσιάσει μια καινούρια μοτοσυκλέτα τον Ιούλιο. Στη σελίδα 900 Husqvarna (από το motoblog) θα παρουσιαστούν τα τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά της μοτοσυκλέτας στις 25 Ιουνίου, ενώ οι φωτογραφίες της την 1η Ιουλίου.
Ας πάρουμε τα πράγματα από την αρχή όμως. Αρχές Μαΐου κυκλοφόρησαν φωτογραφίες από έναν δικύλινδρο κινητήρα 900 κυβικών ο οποίος προορίζεται να κινήσει μια μοτοσυκλέτα δρόμου. Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη την σχέση της BMW με την Husqvarna , μάλλον πρόκειται για μια μεγαλωμένη έκδοση του κινητήρα της σειράς F800 με την έξυπνη αντικραδασμική διάταξη. Στη συνέχεια εμφανίστηκαν σχέδια της μοτοσυκλέτας, ενώ πριν μια εβδομάδα κυκλοφόρησαν (πηγή:visordown) και φωτογραφίες μιας μοτοσυκλέτας δοκιμών. Όσο ξεσηκωτική και αν αναμένεται να είναι μια δικύλινδρη Husqvarna με «ζωντανό» κινητήρα ελπίζω να μοιάζει περισσότερο με το πρωτότυπο SMQ που παρουσιάστηκε το 2008, και λιγότερο με το ΜΖ Mastiff.





We have a whole summer ahead of us before any of the 2012 models break cover. Usually that is, because Husqvarna is going to present a new bike on July! In the minisite 900 Husqvarna (via motoblog) we will be able to read the bike specs in the 25th June, and watch the first photos of the new bike in the 1st July.
In early May photographs of a new twin cylinder 900cc Husqvarna engine circulated the web, an engine meant for a road bike. As BMW owns Husqvarna it is probably a bigger F800 engine, the one with the clever balancing solution. Then there were sketches of the new bike and a week ago (via visordown) we saw photographs of a test bike. As naughty as expected the new Husqvarna may be I surely hope it looks more like the SMQ concept and less like a MZ Mastiff.
