(Bike, October 2011).

He was a Kevin Schwantz fan “because he was a crazy rider who could do something amazing, or go in the gravel”. He also liked Eddie Lawson “because he was consistent. So now I try to become like both of them – I think this would be good!” (Bike, October 2011). Marco Simoncelli sought this balance and his latest results prove it. Results and statistics are one part of history. Memory is another. I will remember him as one of the charismatic and devoted people who make you cheer by achieving a move you thought impossible. And because he was always smilling.
“The old way to go racing is the right way – on the track you are there to fight” the same interview reads – and he did exactly that until the last moment, he tried to save it. Life is a puzzle difficult to understand because there are missing parts. Today we lost another one. Ciao Marco..
